If you like a good fullback story, here's one. Luke Hernandez carried the ball twice Friday night, and both runs went 49 yards. The Panthers held off Naperville North 21-19 in a Class 8A second-round playoff game.

Hernandez's second run was a touchdown, and it put Oswego up 21-0 early in the third quarter. Naperville North's Jayke Collins answered with runs of 55 and 23 yards on back-to-back drives, and a 17-yard touchdown pass cut it to 21-19. Asked about his first run, which ended near midfield, Hernandez said, "I ran out of go-go juice."

  • Hernandez: 98 rushing yards, a season high
  • Collins: 186 yards on 22 carries for Naperville North
  • Penalties: 19 combined between the two teams
  • Quarterfinals: Oswego (10-1) meets the Lyons-Bolingbrook winner
