- ➤ Illinois passed a new state budget that raises taxes on tobacco products, sports bets, and short-term rentals—measures that could soon cause higher prices for residents. The sports bet tax starts July 1 and the tobacco tax will rise from 36% to 45% of the wholesale price. NBC Chicago

- ➤ ComEd said bills for Illinois customers will rise by about 10% starting in June due to a capacity charge set by a PJM auction—ComEd does not profit from the charge as it passes through rising wholesale supply costs.
