The Fox River Arts Ramble will take place on June 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. across 14 locations in Fox Valley—showcasing local galleries, home studios, art organizations, live music at set times, art demonstrations, food, and drinks.
The free, self-guided event includes new sites in Aurora such as The Nolan Gallery and Seven Setting Suns Art Gallery and invites visitors to explore local art and community talent.
📰 Economy
Illinois passed a new state budget that raises taxes on tobacco products, sports bets, and short-term rentals—measures that could soon cause higher prices for residents.
The sports bet tax starts July 1 and the tobacco tax will rise from 36% to 45% of the wholesale price.
📰 Finance
ComEd said bills for Illinois customers will rise by about 10% starting in June due to a capacity charge set by a PJM auction—ComEd does not profit from the charge as it passes through rising wholesale supply costs.
Groups and state officials continue to review the auction rules, and changes may bring adjustments to rates in October.
🏛️ Government
Kane County is offering financial help to renters at risk of eviction through its Homeless Prevention Program until July 31.
Eligible residents (with incomes at or below 80% of the area median and behind on rent or utilities) can apply to cover past-due bills, future rent, or security deposits (application processing takes 6 to 8 weeks).
