ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • David Farber, an 86-year-old Montgomery man, died along with his dog in a house fire at the 30 block of Fernwood Road in unincorporated Oswego Township early Sunday as deputies and firefighters responded before 6:30 a.m. and the investigation remains active.  Kane County Chronicle

ECONOMY NEWS

  • ComEd announced that starting in June, local bills will increase by about $10 due to a flawed PJM auction that raised capacity prices—Chicago Attorney General Kwame Raoul and the Citizens Utility Board are asking for fairer rules to protect consumers.  NBC Chicago

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dr. Adrian Talley, superintendent of Indian Prairie School District 204, was named the 2025 DuPage Educator of the Year by the DuPage Regional Office of Education—he led efforts to expand mental health services and secure over $2 million in grant funding for in-school clinics. The award event set a new tradition for recognizing outstanding educational leadership across the county.  Daily Herald

  • Aurora will hold its Memorial Day Parade on May 26 at 10 a.m. at Benton and River streets with 89 year old WWII veteran Arlen Peterson, who has lived in Aurora for over 60 years and recently beat kidney cancer, leading the event. Local veteran groups plus school bands will honor fallen heroes while free downtown parking is available for visitors.  Daily Herald
