- ➤ State lawmakers passed Senate Bill 2111 on Oct 31 to help transit avoid cuts and layoffs — but trucking executive Mike Moran said the bill also hikes tolls that will raise costs for businesses starting Jan 1. Moran Transportation, which already pays about $1.2 million a year in tolls, will see a 30% increase for trucks and a 45-cent fee on passenger vehicles that may force more carriers onto local roads. - ➤ Hall High School held a Veterans Day event on Nov. 11 and dedicated a WWII Memorial Park to honor 24 fallen soldiers from the school—an Eagle Scout project led by senior Ella Sartain who gathered local records, photos, and community support to add plaques, benches, and a garden path. Shaw Local

- ➤ An X5.1 solar flare erupted Tuesday and triggered a strong CME that is forecast to hit Earth between 9 a.m. and noon today—setting up a geomagnetic storm in the Chicago area. Residents may see a rare Northern Lights display tonight and tomorrow night as the clouds clear. NBC Chicago

- ➤ Veterans Day was observed yesterday when many schools, banks, DMVs, city offices, and courts were closed while postal services halted and UPS, FedEx plus stock markets operated, and Aurora held its annual Veterans Day Parade at 10:15 a.m. Local communities also marked the day with commemorative ceremonies and free museum events (with some restaurants offering veteran discounts). - ➤ After a helicopter crash killed his son, daughter‐in‐law, and two grandchildren, Darren Bailey said Monday that he will continue his campaign for governor—stressing that he fights for families and a better future in the state.
