State lawmakers passed Senate Bill 2111 on Oct 31 to help transit avoid cuts and layoffs — but trucking executive Mike Moran said the bill also hikes tolls that will raise costs for businesses starting Jan 1.
Moran Transportation, which already pays about $1.2 million a year in tolls, will see a 30% increase for trucks and a 45-cent fee on passenger vehicles that may force more carriers onto local roads.
Hall High School held a Veterans Day event on Nov.
11 and dedicated a WWII Memorial Park to honor 24 fallen soldiers from the school—an Eagle Scout project led by senior Ella Sartain who gathered local records, photos, and community support to add plaques, benches, and a garden path.
