  • Wesley United Methodist Church at 14 N. May St. in Aurora is hosting an 'Immigration 101: Welcoming the Stranger' workshop today from 12:30 to 3 p.m., where panelists from Aurora Rapid Response Team, Exodus World Service, World Relief and Justice for Our Neighbors will answer questions about current immigration issues. Refreshments will be served from 11:30 a.m.—the free event aims to help community members learn ways to support their immigrant neighbors.  Kane County Chronicle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents attended a forum on immigration policy hosted by U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood on Oct. 10—where speakers recounted ICE sightings from Thursday—while community members shared personal hardships and called for change. Mayor John Laesch—defending local law enforcement and urging neighbors to support one another—stressed the need to stand together against federal actions that have unsettled the community.  Kane County Chronicle
