Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 2nd of October.
Good morning, Aurora.
🌲 Environment
Experts predict that about 364 million birds will begin migrating in Northern Illinois 30 to 45 minutes after sunset and urge residents to turn off non-essential lights (to prevent fatal collisions) as fall migration peaks.
🏥 Health
Roseland Community Hospital on Chicago’s South Side will close its labor and delivery unit by the end of the month, following obstetrics service cuts at hospitals in Joliet, Aurora, and Chicago.
Staff are working to transfer current patients to new providers (experts worry the closures will force mothers to travel farther for care).
