GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Aurora City Council voted on a temporary 180-day pause on new data centers and warehouses during a special meeting on Thursday to study community concerns over noise, traffic, and the environment. City leaders said the pause—exempting already submitted applications and routine repairs—will allow time to update zoning and operational standards.  ABC7
  • DuPage County Board Chair Deb Conroy announced a balanced-budget plan that will use a projected $25 million surplus and 2026 funds to launch an $18.1 million initiative for affordable housing, food pantries — and stronger social services as federal cuts threaten vital programs. The board will vote on a final budget featuring a $71.5 million property tax levy and additional funding for stormwater and transportation improvements.  Shaw Local
