- ➤ Fox Valley Native American Artifact Show returns to Yorkville on Sunday, Oct. 5 to mark its 25th anniversary—featuring free admission, a food truck, and displays of Native American items that visitors can add to. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at American Legion Post 489 on Route 34—offering a chance to learn about local prehistoric cultures. Kane County Chronicle

Don DeWitte is launching his fourth annual coat drive to collect new and gently used winter jackets from Sept. 29 to Oct. 13 to help families in need—coats will be given to local groups such as Kids in Need, Lazarus House, the Elgin Wayside Center and the Salvation Army.
