EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Monday night, East Aurora school board member Mayra Reyes apologized for racially insensitive remarks made a year ago during a closed meeting—community leaders demanded her resignation and called for changes to create a more inclusive district. The board and superintendent agreed to hold further discussions with local leaders while Reyes did not indicate she would resign.  ABC7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kane County Clerk John Cunningham urges residents to register to vote today during National Voter Registration Month as the county prepares for upcoming elections—March 17 general primary and Nov. 3 general elections—with in-person, mail, and online options available. He emphasizes that only registered voters can vote in county, state and federal contests.  Kane County Chronicle

HEALTH NEWS

  • At the East Aurora High School football game on Sept. 12, 2025, students, staff, and cheerleaders wore gold shirts to mark Pediatric Cancer Month and support Cal’s Angels—a St. Charles-based nonprofit that funds research and grants wishes for children with cancer. A pregame ceremony showcased photos honoring Abigail ‘Abi’ Ayala, whose courage is remembered by the community.  Kane County Chronicle
