CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Darci Klomhaus, 24, from the 900 block of Deerpath Road in Aurora was sentenced Tuesday to four years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated DUI—causing death in a crash on Oct. 6 that killed a Naperville man on a ramp from I-88 to Route 56, and she will serve at least 85% of her sentence while receiving credit for 419 days in detention as part of a plea agreement that dropped a reckless homicide charge. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Paramount announced Monday that Aurora’s Copley Theatre will go dark after its final performance of “True West” on August 31—ticket holders will be contacted for refunds as the theater cancels the rest of its Bold season. City officials maintain that current funding is secure and will work with Paramount to support future fundraising efforts. Daily Herald

- ➤ Kane County Clerk John A. Cunningham invites residents to apply as election judges for upcoming elections as part of National Poll Worker Recruitment Day on Aug. 12. The primary is scheduled for March 17, 2026 and the general election for Nov. 3, 2026—students and eligible government employees are encouraged to serve, with certified judges earning $250 on Election Day. - ➤ Officials announced that Kane County property tax bills for the second installment are due on Sept. 2. Taxpayers may visit the Treasurer's website to view and print duplicate bills and make e-check payments (no fee) while credit and debit card payments incur a 2.35% convenience fee.
