  • Kane County and West Aurora School District 129 offer parenting resources including the Jeff Craig Family Resource Center in West Aurora and monthly Parent Cafes in Aurora and Elgin. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Bricks fell from the exterior of the downtown apartment building at 100 E. Galena Blvd, displacing 15 residents and closing westbound lanes on Galena Boulevard between Broadway and La Salle Street as city officials inspect the facade (no injuries were reported) while owners expect residents and two local businesses to return once repairs begin.  ABC7
  • A 10-year-old boy in Montgomery was hit by a vehicle while crossing from a local business along U.S. Route 30 near Horseman Trail last Thursday—he was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora and later to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he died on Saturday.  NBC Chicago

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Aurora residents should be cautious of the giant hogweed, an invasive plant that can grow up to 14 feet tall and has a clear toxic sap that burns the skin. Illinois law bans buying, moving or planting the weed and warns people to wear protective gear—such as long pants and gloves—when near it.  NBC Chicago

  • The Illinois Tollway board approved a plan last month to explore dynamic pricing that will adjust tolls based on real-time traffic conditions—prices rising during heavy traffic and falling when light.
