- ➤ Today at 3 p.m., the Kane County Fair will open at the Kane County Fairgrounds at 525 S. Randall Road with 4-H animals, carnival rides and fair food; Wednesday is carnival-only with admission at $5 and unlimited rides at $32—weekend events will include live music, a petting zoo, and ticketed grandstand events such as bull riding and a demolition derby on Sunday at 2 p.m. Daily Herald

- ➤ A Des Plaines man, Andrew M. Guca, 51, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty on May 8 for unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver following his June 6 arrest that found 4 kilograms of cocaine valued between $120,000 & $144,000, and he must serve at least 75% of his sentence before parole. - ➤ Petition packets for established party candidates running for Kane County offices in the March 17th, 2026 primary are available online and at the clerk's offices in Geneva (719 S. The first day to circulate petitions is August 5, and the packets cover positions including clerk, sheriff, treasurer, regional superintendent of schools, precinct committeemen and county board seats. - ➤ Aurora officials found that drinking water samples from 10 of 100 homes exceeded 15 parts per billion between January and June, indicating higher lead levels in homes built before 1980.
