Aurora residents are invited to bring aging electronics to a recycling and shredding event hosted by Rep. Stephanie Kifowit and KCT Credit Union today from 9 a.m. to noon at her district office parking lot (1677 Montgomery Road).
Items such as computer towers, microwaves, DVD players and other electronics will be recycled while books, cell phones and eyeglasses may be donated.

Residents in Aurora planning to celebrate the Fourth of July should note that Illinois law bans most consumer fireworks unless local ordinances allow their use (only certain novelty effects like sparklers and party poppers are permitted).
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal warned that even these items can be dangerous and urged residents to check local rules or attend professional displays.
