  • Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry raised $180,000 at its annual Radiothon on June 13 at 1110 Jericho Road, where about 140 people attended and enjoyed live broadcasts from 95.9 The River. The event featured a silent auction, games, food and an open bar — funds that helped keep the pantry stocked over the summer — and recognized key supporters for their ongoing contributions.  Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Aurora has set up five new advisory committees—finance, sustainability, housing, public safety and youth education—to advise city departments on key issues. Applications to join the committees are due on July 7 as they will work on budgets, climate goals, housing improvements and community safety.  Daily Herald
  • On June 13, Kaneland School District 302 filed a lawsuit in Kane County court to dissolve the Crown TIF redevelopment project in Sugar Grove because it does not meet statutory requirements and will reduce revenue from property taxes. The court has set a case management conference for Sept. 30 before Judge Kevin Busch.  Kane County Chronicle
  • Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is expected to announce plans to run for a third term this week+ sources said he will make his announcement on Thursday. He has raised his national profile recently+ and faces questions on a possible presidential run as he prepares his campaign.  NBC Chicago
