Rosary junior Katie Kostro set a new school record by clearing a personal best of 1.70 meters at the state meet, earning her the Kane County Chronicle 2024-25 Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
The jumper focused on high jump this season (winning all five meets and defeating reigning state champion Mariyah Elam) to boost her confidence and secure the title.
The Kane County Chronicle named its 2025 Girls Track and Field All-Area team with Katie Kostro as Athlete of the Year—she won the high jump state title for Rosary.
The team features standouts from St. Francis, Batavia, Aurora Central Catholic, and Burlington Central, with athletes earning All-State honors and personal bests at state meets in April and May.
