At a June 4 event at its local facility in Aurora, Factor donated five refrigerated vans and ready-to-eat meals to local hunger relief organizations — including Northern Illinois Food Bank, Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, Loaves & Fishes Community Services, and Kendall County Food Pantry — to help fight food insecurity.

Community events this weekend in Kane County include a Queer Icons of Horror show at Sidecar Supper Club (Friday 7-11 p.m.), a free screening of Dog Man at Pottawatomie Park Amphitheatre (Friday 8:25 p.m.), a Flag Day celebration at Batavia City Hall (Saturday 1-6 p.m.), and Swedish heritage programming at Geneva Public Library (Saturday 2-3 p.m.). In Aurora, A-Town House Music Fest starts at Wilder Park on Saturday at 4 p.m. featuring local and national DJs.

Prime Healthcare, which acquired eight Ascension hospitals in March, began cutting around 100 non-union jobs at its Chicago area hospitals and clinics last week and will finish by next month.

A spokesperson said the cuts target duplicated roles and workers can apply for over 900 open positions—Illinois senators have raised concerns about patient care access.

Suburbs are planning Juneteenth celebrations starting Saturday, June 14, with events in Aurora, Naperville, Skokie and more that will include crafts, live music and community exhibits to honor the end of slavery in the United States.

Aurora will have a flag-raising ceremony on Thursday, June 19 at One Aurora Plaza as part of the ongoing festivities.
