GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kane County began its annual road resurfacing program Monday, June 1, with pavement marking, milling, and curb replacement. Daily lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. will affect roads like Big Timber Road and Main Street, and work will continue for six months weather permitting. Kane County Chronicle
- ➤ Illinois will pause its planned 1.3-cent gas tax increase starting July 1 for six months as part of its $55.9 billion FY27 budget, easing fuel costs temporarily. The budget also brings back a 10-day back-to-school sales tax holiday in August for school supplies and clothing. NBC Chicago
