Illinois lawmakers passed a $55.2 billion budget that raises taxes on tobacco products and online sports wagering with tobacco rising to 45% and wagering taxed 25 cents per bet for the first 20 million wagers—50 cents for additional bets.
The measure passed on party-line votes before the June 1 deadline and marks the state’s seventh balanced budget.
