Commonwealth Edison customers in Aurora face a significant rate increase starting June 1 that could raise bills by about $10 per month and $100 per year, as warned by the Citizens Utility Board.
Grid operator PJM has refuted the claims—saying rising costs result from supply problems and higher demand tied to decarbonization policies and tech growth—and vowed to work with states to address the issue.

Senior Services Associates held an Aging Advocacy Day on Wednesday at its Crystal Lake center to urge lawmakers to keep funding for meals, rides, and health services for older adults.
Without these funds, more than 180,000 delivered meals, nearly 15,000 rides, and over 5,000 health screenings could be lost each month—putting seniors and caregivers at risk.

Kane County track athletes will compete at the IHSA boys track and field meet at Eastern Illinois in Charleston—Batavia’s relay team, St. Charles North’s Nathan McLoughlin, and Kaneland’s All-State hopefuls are among the local stars taking part.
