A two-car crash killed one person and hurt another on westbound I-88 near IL Route 53 in Lisle before 5 a.m. yesterday, and police closed the lanes and diverted traffic to I-355 as heavy rain caused long backups.

Paramount Theatre in Aurora is presenting a circus-themed version of Cats that runs today through June 15; director Trent Stork leads a team with acrobats, aerialists, and a live 10-piece orchestra (bringing new energy to the classic musical).

Health officials are investigating a salmonella outbreak linked to cucumbers grown by Bedner Growers (distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales) that have made 26 people in 15 states sick, including several in Illinois, with at least nine hospitalizations reported.

Retailers are advising consumers to discard cucumbers if they are unsure of the produce's source.
