  • Hugo Saltijeral, executive director of Valley Sheltered Workshop in Batavia, hosted a prom on March 21 to mark 60 years of service; 70 guests + 60 volunteers attended with donated dresses, tuxedos, dinner, and decorations. CULTURE NEWS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • 15-year-old math prodigy Benyamin Bamburac will graduate with a master’s in computer science from Lewis University in Romeoville this Friday. He began his university studies at age 12, earned two bachelor’s degrees last year, and is now the youngest to earn both degrees.  NBC Chicago

  • The Illinois Department of Natural Resources advises residents to leave wild birds and animals in nature because human handling can hurt survival rates and spread disease — contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator if an animal appears injured or orphaned.  Shaw Local
