- ➤ Kane County law enforcement gave 10 tickets to drivers who did not use a cell phone in a hands free way during a 20 hour enforcement campaign held in April for Distracted Driving Awareness Month and also gave 15 more tickets and four warnings mostly on Randall Road in the St. Charles and South Elgin area (federal funds from IDOT helped support the program). - ➤ Illinois will adjust its gas tax on July 1 using a formula tied to inflation, with current rates at 47 cents for unleaded and 54.5 cents for diesel.
