The Kane County Sheriff's Office is facing a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of alleged carjacking suspect James Moriarty from Aurora who was shot during a chase in Geneva in 2023 — the deputy involved is also named in the suit.

Kane County voters in the Kaneland School District approved a referendum for $140M in school building bonds for facility improvements this summer (3,163 votes at 56% support).

Superintendent Kurt Rohlwing said the district will form community committees (to guide planning and feedback) and update residents through newsletters and social media.
