The Edward Foundation awarded $36,000 in nursing scholarships to eight hospital team members pursuing nursing degrees at a ceremony on Feb.

20 at Edward Hospital in Naperville—awards include two $10,000 Peter Veit Scholarships given to Natalia Fuks and Jacqueline Moecher—supporting the legacy of Peter Veit.

Today, over 50 races are being decided in Kane County as busy early voting shows strong numbers ahead of the mayoral contest in Aurora, where Mayor Richard Irvin—who champions reduced crime and new projects like a casino and hotel opening next year—faces Ald. at Large John Laesch who seeks more ethical spending and affordable housing. Over 19,000 early votes and more than 16,000 mail-in ballots have been cast as residents exercise their right to vote today.
