State health officials reported very high flu activity on Monday as hospital admissions and ER visits rose, especially for children 5 to 17, and warned that the surge may extend into May if vaccinations remain low + proper hygiene is not practiced.
A new flu variant called subclade K is causing high fevers and more vomiting in children and adults, and local health officials advise using at home tests and wearing masks if vulnerable.
