About this event

⚡ Camp Half-Blood STEAM Academy: The Demigod Trials!

Calling all young demigods: do you have what it takes to survive monsters, master mythic technology, and defend Mount Olympus?

Step across the border into Long Island Sound for an action-packed, full-day quest at CodeForce! In this immersive STEAM camp, campers will be claimed by their godly parent (Poseidon, Athena, Ares, or Hephaestus) and harness real-world science, coding, and engineering to complete epic mythological trials.

From coding retro arcade battles to engineering enchanted gear, this camp transforms a love for Percy Jackson’s universe into hands-on technology mastery and creative problem-solving.

📅 Quick Event Details

• Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Full Day)

• Ages: 6 and up

• Cost: $75.00

• Location: CodeForce (25 Jefferson St, Oswego, IL)

• Food & Snacks: 🥪 Pack a nut-free lunch & water bottle

🗡️ What Demigods Will Experience

• Battle of the Labyrinth (Arcade Game Design): Program a retro 2D top-down action game using MakeCode Arcade! Campers code player movement, dungeon tilemaps, Minotaur AI, and Percy’s water-burst attack—taking home a playable QR code to play on any phone.

• Capture the Flag with Ozobots: Map the Camp Half-Blood forest floor and program autonomous Ozobot scouts using optical color code sequences to dodge Ares cabin patrols and capture the enemy banner.

• The Hephaestus Forge (Motion-Sensing Riptide): Build and code interactive hardware using BBC micro:bit accelerometers. Swing a custom blade to trigger a celestial bronze LED slash and metallic clash sound effects, or code a proximity radar to detect hidden monsters!

• The River Styx Fluid Armor Challenge: Explore materials science and impact physics inspired by the River Styx. Campers mix custom non-Newtonian fluid shields and run drop-impact tests to keep their test subjects safe.

• 3D-Printed Celestial Artifacts: Watch the CodeForce 3D printer fleet run live throughout the day, fabricating custom bronze-colored Poseidon tridents and cabin tokens for every camper to take home.

🧠 Why Parents Love It

At CodeForce, we bring epic stories to life through genuine engineering literacy. Guided by experienced mentors in our dedicated lab, campers don't just consume digital media—they build critical thinking, algorithmic logic, and physical science skills in an engaging, supportive environment.
